This very easy rustic craft creates a pleasant reminder of the summery sight and scent of blooming lavender fields.
Materials
- Ceramic pot (4” and 5” diameter pots pictured in the examples)
- One to two handfuls of dried moss (depending on pot size)
- Two bundles of long-stem dried lavender
Instructions
- Place moss around the inside of pot, leaving the middle open for the lavender bouquet.
- Optional: use a hot glue gun to secure the moss.
- Combine the lavender bunches and remove debris and stray stems from the stalk segments.
- Align the stems so flower spikes are fairly uniform in length and create an appealing crown of flowers.
- Trim the end of the stems to flatten the bottom of the bundled stalks.
- Carefully place the composite lavender bundle inside the pot and adjust the moss as desired.
Note: For the examples shown, the cultivars used for the 5” pot were Lavandula x intermedia ‘Anniversary Bouquet’ and ‘Olympia’, and for the 4” pot, somewhat shorter stems of Lavandula x intermedia ‘Riverina Thomas’.
Caring for the decorative pot: Keep it out of direct sunlight and avoid high humidity. Use a hair dryer on a low, cool setting to remove dust and debris.
