Northwest Lavender Destination

Sagehill Farm- Ontario, Oregon

Lavender and Irises and Grapes!! OH! MY!  The road isn’t yellow bricks, but rather hidden away and well worth the trip.  Irises spring to life in May along with the lilacs.  Our 1000 lavender plants have been selected to start blooming in June, and some varieties bloom into September.  Grapes start to ripen in mid July and reach their peak in September.  Then there is wildlife.  Doves, mountain quail, ringed neck pheasants, owls, robins, finches,  kingbirds, sparrows and several varieties of hawks stir up the air.  Canadian snow geese and sometimes sandhill cranes compete for airspace. Randomly, mule deer wander through along with jack rabbits, and coyotes sing to the rising moon.

The first lavender plant was transplanted in 2006, and it looked lonely. So with help from neighbors and friends, 999 more were planted with intent of lavender blooms continuously from June through September. That coupled with the remoteness and quiet of this rolling landscape makes an ideal spot to sit and smell the flowers along with a glass of wine and a lounge chair and enjoy the sunrises and sunsets.
