2001 Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit
Species: Lavandula angustifolia
Cultivar: ‘Beechwood Blue’
Flower Color: Purple-blue
Stem Length: 10 – 12 inches
Plant Height: 24 inches
Plant Spread: 30 inches
This cultivar was introduced in the U.K. in the 1920’s from Beechwood Nurseries.
It is notable for forming a very compact mound of green foliage. The bloom occurs early with dark blue, sweet-scented flowers on long green stems. Its long flower spikes produce larger flowers than some of the other L. angustifolia cultivars.
