LAVENDER FEATURED AT THE WALLA WALLA FAIR 2026

Each year, the Walla Walla Fair selects a featured crop to showcase at the center of the farm produce exhibits; for 2026, the fair’s Board selected lavender!  This choice provides and excellent opportunity to present lavender to a large audience — over 90,000 people attend the fair  annually.

Crockett Road Lavender Farm and its proprietor Tom Binder were asked to put together comprehensive display to explain various aspects of lavender: its history, how it is grown, the wide variety of cultivars, how bud and essential oil are produced, and the many uses and benefits of lavender products.   The exhibit is a core feature of the fair, not a promotion for specific farms, but rather a source of information and education for fair attendees, highlighting one of the diverse crops grown in the Walla Walla Valley.

The centerpiece of the exhibit is a terraced array of 23 popular cultivars of lavender as dried bundles in crates.   This is surrounded by additional displays for buds, essential oil, history, growing tips, uses for the crop, and characteristics and benefits of lavender.   Eight informational posters were produced and placed throughout the exhibit.  All in all, it is quite a showcase for Northwest lavender.

The Walla Walla Fair runs September 2 – 6, 2026.  Later in September, on the 19th and 20th, Crockett Road Lavender Farm will be participating in the Walla Walla Valley Area Chamber of Commerce’s Tour D’ Farm agritourism event.  Registered attendees, usually families and children, receive a passport they have stamped at each farm on the tour where they learn about various crops and animals and win prizes.   Much of this fair exhibit can be experienced during the Tour D’Farm event.
